The Kholewski (Coal-es-key for you non Polish types) brothers. Three men trapped in a foreign land. Originally hailing from the U.S.A.; Colorado to be more precise, these men are no stranger to mother natures cruelty. Growing up on nearly 300 acres of Colorado wilderness, these brothers are comfortable with adversity. Living mainly "off the grid," they were raised by a Vietnam veteran father of questionable sanity. Taught to live off the land in survivalist fashion from a very young age, they learned to hunt, track, shoot, skin, and quarter their prey. They are all highly proficient with ranged weapons, from recurve bows to fully automatic assault rifles.

Born very close together in age, the oldest, 35, Eli, the middle child, 33, Kyle, and the youngest, 31, Rand were nearly inseparable for a time. However, time flows like a river. Eventually, their fathers suicide caused Kyle to leave home to pursue a higher education. It wasn't much of a shock for anyone. The man used to sleep in a tent with a lawnmower running next to it, on top of being a very creative conspiracy theorist. After the untimely death of their father, their mother, of Russian/Czech decent, left for her home country to be with her parents shortly after. Eli and Rand remained in the States, working odd jobs ranging from roofing, logging, machining, construction, and demolition. Suffice it to say the brothers retained a very strong bond. They never strayed from the lifestyle and training they received. To this day they approach all situations in a militant, tactical, and survivalist fashion. Kyle on the other hand, after receiving his advanced education, became a photojournalist. He began using the "pen name" Kyle Hoffman, and has covered wars ranging from Afghanistan to Iraq; often in the thick of raging battles. Much to the dismay of his other siblings, he has become somewhat of the black sheep of the family. He is however, very familiar with combat.

After receiving word from their mother of strange happenings and illness in the small village of Tisy, Eli and Rand decided it would be best to visit the old country to keep their matriarch and grandparents safe. The call was also extended to Kyle, who claimed he would come on a later flight. The boys had not seen their grandfather, or "Dedushka," nor their grandmother, "babushka," in over a decade. They certainly still had fond memories of each. Grandmother preparing them traditional Russian foods, and Grandfather, the old Red Army veteran, further improving their gunplay skills with traditional bolt and breach action rifles. While communication was poor, the fond memories and interactions were enough to make what came next exceedingly difficult.

Upon their arrival at the small town, babushka and mama were nowhere to be found. There were however, two shallow graves dug out back. When questioned, dedushka could only offer bits and pieces in broken English and Russian; something the boys failed to learn as a fluent language. From what the two could piece together, a neighbor had bitten their mother, who after falling ill, had also bitten babushka. If their understanding of the language was correct, it seemed that mother had since died of illness, only to come back to life and bite babushka. After the assault, the old Red Army veteran used his original World War II rifle, the Mosin-Nagant, to put his own unruly, diseased child down. This choice was only made after he was bitten himself. Not long after, his wife succumbed to illness, and in the same fashion, came back to life as a vicious, instinct driven entity. Dedushka was once again forced to use his old service rifle to put an end to his own wife. The old man even had the resolve to dig and bury both of the only two things he found dear in his life.

With a bloody rag tied around his forearm, their grandfather incessantly asked the boys to "ubey menya." From their combined knowledge of the language they came to a singular conclusion: Grandfather was asking them to kill him. He looked awful. Pale as they'd ever seen the tough as nails old man. Shallow breathing. Eyes yellow with what could be perceived as jaundice. Once the full revelation and understanding of what had transpired, and what was desired by the old man, the two brothers raised their weapons with resolve. Rand raised his grandfathers service rifle, the Mosin-Nagant, and Eli raised the old mans hunting rifle, the Blaze 95. Neither believed in God, especially at this point. Regardless, they both uttered a short prayer, counted to three, and unleashed hell upon their grandfather.

Three shallow graves marked what had transpired at their little house in Tisy. Shortly after, the brothers gathered what supplies they could find, and moved to the wilderness to pursue a new life. With no way of knowing if Kyle ever made it to the continent before the airports were shut down, Eli and Rand live off the land in pursuit of one day being reunited with their somewhat estranged brother. In recent months, the two have been seen traveling into cities and coastal towns to trade meats, animal skins, and offer services such as bounty hunting. As avid hunters, the ultimate prey is now a possibility... The hunting of man.
